The Art of Compassion...

Good people doing good work for good reason.

Artists In Recovery is a group of people who empathize and seek to help those who are struggling with substance dependence and other challenges to mental and physical wellness, in a way that is tangible and long-lasting.  For some projects, this means intervening in the court system to advocate for treatment rather than incarceration.  For others, we simply provide meaningful assistance with issues surrounding poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, unemployment and addiction.

We are a group of individuals who see the world through an artist's perspective - broken and flawed, yet filled with beauty and potential for greatness.  We believe in second chances and the opportunity to find happiness and meaning in life, regardless of socio-economic background or previous mistakes made.  We have had the privilege of seeing families come back together, broken spirits lifted, shattered lives mended and transformed into thriving members of society.

We share their stories and relate to their experiences.  We all have a tale to tell of the "what if" moments in our lives - the time we would return to if there was a chance to make a different choice or experience a different outcome.  While we can only learn from the past, Artists in Recovery has the great honor of being able to help these individuals rewrite their present and establish hope for their future.

We are people who take a creative approach to life and life's problems. We show up in meaningful and real ways to assist people of all kinds who face hardship as a result of poverty, addiction and mental illness.

We are people who share the art of our lives with others - the chaos, the beauty, the desperation and the triumphs.  We are in homeless shelters, jails, mental health facilities and youth organizations. We bring the universal language of art, music, care and compassion to our work.

Good people doing good work for good reason.
